WTO Director-General says world would already be in trade war if not for WTO's leadership

The world would already be in a trade war,.. if not for the World Trade Organization's leadership,... this according to the head of the body.
Director-General Roberto Azebedo, defending the WTO over concerns that free trade is under threat,... said President Trump's decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports has made his organization more relevant than ever.
He added that related countries should make an effort to talk through their issues... to prevent conflicts erupting.
President Trump had ordered tariffs of 25 percent on imported steel and 10-percent on aluminum,.. exempting a few countries out of that list,... and said other countries could be spared if they can convince the U.S. that their exports don't harm American industry.
