Amid ongoing talks between the Korean government and General Motors on how to support the automaker's struggling Korean subsidiary,... the Korean public have mixed views over what should be done.
According to a public survey by Realmeter, conducted last week on five-hundred adults in Korea,... only 6-point-four percent of respondents supported giving unconditional support to GM Korea to prevent mass unemployment.
Nearly one third said taxpayers' money should not be spent on supporting foreign corporations,... while about half of the respondents said the Korean government should financially help GM Korea,... only when its parent company show signs it can end the crisis.
GM is reportedly asking the Korean government to provide a package deal of about one-point-five billion U.S. dollars' worth of financial benefits.
