These are 4 of the best ways to treat and prevent tick bites in dogs.

1. Manual removal of ticks.

When it comes to one or more, the best and most effective way to get rid of them is to manually remove them from your pet.

1. Put on a pair of good quality gloves, take a pair of tweezers and put some alcohol in a bowl.
2. Check that there are no marks on your dog's skin. If necessary, separate the hair with a fine tooth comb to help inspect the entire skin.
3. Once you detect a tic, touch it with the tweezers.
4. Drop the tick into the alcohol bowl to kill it.
5. Clean the sting site with a disinfectant.
6. Finally, wash your hands, comb and tweezers.

Note: when removing a tick with tweezers, be sure to grab it by the head, close to the skin. Do not twist the tick, as you can make the mouth pieces of the tick break and remain embedded in the skin.

2. Liquid soap for dishes.

* Pour some liquid soap in a bowl. Using a cotton ball, apply it on the body of your pet, covering the area where there are ticks. Wait 15 minutes and then give your pet a bath. Repeat as necessary.

* Another option is to fill a container with hot water and add one to 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap. Dip a comb in the solution, then comb thoroughly through your pet's fur. Immerse the comb in the solution again as necessary. Do this once a day until the ticks disappear.

3. Apple cider vinegar for ticks in dogs.

* Put equal amounts of apple cider vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Add 2 or 3 drops of lavender oil. Put the lid on the bottle and give some smoothies to mix the ingredients.

Spray the solution on the body of your pet, being careful not to put it in the eyes, ears and nose. Run a comb through the damp skin and then bathe your pet. Repeat once a day, but you do not need to bathe your pet every day.

* Alternatively, you can add one to 2 tablespoons of unfiltered apple cider vinegar (depending on the size of your pet) to your dog's food or water source once a day.

4. Lemon.

* Squeeze fresh lemon juice directly into the affected part of the dog. Wait 10 to 15 minutes, then give your pet a nice bath. Repeat as necessary.

* Boil 1 to 2 lemons (cut into thin slices) in a hot water source. Cover and soak the solution overnight. Strain and transfer the solution to a spray bottle. Spray on the skin of your pet, especially behind the ears, around the head, at the base of the tail and in the armpits. Comb through the skin thoroughly. Repeat as necessary.
