Petrol Diplomacy: As fuel shocks stings India; India draws line with U.S
  • 6 years ago
As fuel shock stings India, the centre is now engaging in petrol diplomacy. As part of the 2+ 2 dialogue, India and United States discussed extensively on implications of stopping oil imports from Iran. This comes in the aftermath of US pulling out from the nuke deal with Iran and reimposing sanctions. Remember India continues to be one of the major oil importers from Iran after China. Any policy change will affect the worsening oil situation in the country while there has been no clear indication of India giving into U.S demands yet. India continues to strike balance with the trump having now entered into a comcasa defence pact that seeks to transfer communication security equipment from U.S to India. In turn, the United State has meanwhile also agreed to help India get into NSG suppliers group.
