Good morning, after days of deep freeze ...the nation saw some welcome relief from the cold spell, especially those of us in Seoul and it will feel a lot milder today with an expected high of 6 degrees Celsius here in Seoul.

But dry weather will remain across much of the country, including here in Seoul, and dust levels could spike in the afternoon.

Afternoon highs will rise rapidly, Seoul and Daejeon will get up to 6 and 7 degrees with more clouds moving in as the day moves along.

Milder than average readings will be short-lived, we'll see readings plunging again on Sunday and Monday.

The cold will ease in PyeongChang as well but the Olympic Stadium where opening ceremony will take a place will have colder readings along with stronger winds.

With that, let's take a look at the international weather for viewers around the world.

While a milder weather pattern is on the way for much of the peninsula with cloudier skies than Thursday, much of North Korea will also notice much higher readings this afternoon.

As for the rest of Asia, Tokyo will wake up to a freezing morning at a low of minus 2 degrees but highs will rise fast under sunny skies.

Meanwhile, Sydney and Melbourne will have a similar weather pattern with highs of 28 degrees Celsius.

Heading to North America, a winter storm expected to hit the Chicago area Thursday could drop up to 14 inches of snow that's over 35 centimeters by the time it ends on Friday night.

As for South America, Buenos Aires will have some welcome rain on Friday that will bring some relief from the steamy conditions.

Taking you to Europe,..rain in London will continue into Saturday, keep an umbrella handy.

Lastly to Africa, Algiers will only have a single digit afternoon high at 9 degrees along with rainfall so dress warmly
