Russia and Japan have agreed to closely cooperate to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue.
Meeting in Tokyo on Wednesday,... the countries' representatives to the six-party talks on North Korea's denuclearization exchanged their views on the current situation on the Korean peninsula.
They welcomed the ongoing inter-Korean dialogue aimed at ensuring a safe and successful PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
Japan urged Russia to apply maximum pressure on the North through sanctions, but Russia said improving relations is key as sanctions are no longer effective.
