Report: WH Official Raj Shah Called Trump 'Deplorable'

Raj Shah once called President Trump a "deplorable," reports the New York Magazine.

White House principal deputy press secretary Raj Shah reportedly called Donald Trump a "deplorable" just prior to the 2016 election.  According to the New York Magazine, the comment was made while Shah was working for the Republican National Committee and in an email sent to a colleague not long after the Washington Post published the "Access Hollywood" tape. "I'm kinda enjoying this, some justice. I honestly don't think it's the worst thing he's done but he somehow got passes for the other acts…Trump is a deplorable," Shah's alleged message read. "Deplorables" is the word then-candidate Hillary Clinton used to characterize a portion of Trump voters she described as "racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic -- you name it."  Trump has since embraced the term and used it to fire up crowds of his supporters, and, more recently, lawmakers.  He told congressional Republicans gathered for an early February retreat in West Virginia, "We got hit with these corporations giving tremendous bonuses to everybody that Nancy Pelosi called crumbs."
"That could be like deplorable, does that make sense? Deplorable and crumbs? Those two words, they seem to have a resemblance," Trump further noted. "I hope it has the same meaning."  Pelosi made the "crumbs" comment weeks ago and in reference to the recently passed $1.5 trillion tax-cut legislation, according to Fox News. "In terms of the bonus that corporate America receives versus the crumbs they are giving to workers to put the schmooze on is so pathetic," she said.
