CNN is reporting, based on inside sources, that President Trump is “disappointed” in White House press secretary Sean Spicer’s performance thus far.

President Trump reportedly regrets making Sean Spicer the White House press secretary. 
A recent CNN report states, “A source familiar with internal communications said President Donald Trump is disappointed in Spicer's performance during the first two weeks of the administration.” 
Meanwhile, Politico points out that “Internally, people close to Trump are eager to point out that Spicer was also not Trump’s first choice for the high-profile position of press secretary, but that chief of staff Reince Priebus pushed for the former Republican National Committee spokesman to get the job.” 
White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway has said she was offered the position but turned it down.
As such, a source told CNN, in part, “Priebus vouched for Spicer and against Trump's instincts...[The President] regrets it every day and blames Priebus.” 
Spicer has already faced controversy in the role; he refused to take press questions during his first briefing and criticized the media for underestimating the crowd size at Trump’s inauguration, notes The Hill.
Axios has reported that there was internal talk of possibly replacing Spicer as early as day four, with Trump’s alleged scrutiny of him even extending to his choice of suits. 
The White House was also said to have been bothered that a woman--Melissa McCarthy--portrayed the press secretary on Saturday Night Live. 
Despite the speculation, some top officials have denied there is a rift with Spicer, notes CNN.
