Unexploded wartime bomb found in Hong Kong

Another unexploded bomb dropped during World War II has been found in Hong Kong.
The discovery, coming just a week after another one was unearthed in the same area,... prompted the authorities to evacuate five thousand people.

It's 140 centimeters long, 45 centimeters wide and weighs in at a staggering 450 kilograms.
The AN-M65,... made by the United States and dropped on Japan-occupied Hong Kong during World War 2,.. was discovered at a construction site in Hong Kong's Wan Chai district,... as experts worked through the night to disarm the "severely damaged" explosive.
This discovery comes less than a week after an identical model was defused in the same area.
While it's not uncommon for unexploded armaments from past wars to be found in the territory,... a bomb disposal expert stressed the difficulty in diffusing such an old explosive.
"Because of the rain yesterday, the working conditions are not good. Because of the location, it was extremely difficult to access it, and because of the nature of the fire mechanisms, the fuses, one of the which we couldn't even see, it was extremely dangerous for the officers who were engaged in the disposal operation."
The explosive is known to have be made by the United States and dropped on Japan-occupied Hong Kong during World War Two,... as the area was a British colony at the time,... and occupied by Japanese forces between 1941 and 1945.
Hong Kong historians estimate that, of the approximately four-thousand explosives,... roughly 30 percent, or nearly a thousand were buried underground,... and are yet to be discovered.
Experts say a large number of similar bombs may be buried in Japan's Okinawa, Cambodia, Laos, and other regions that saw conflict during World War 2.
