And while the two Koreas are settled into their Olympic truce, the United States says it's confident the Winter Olympics in South Korea will be safe,... despite lingering tensions with the North.
State Department officials overseeing security for the U.S. Olympic team said on Wednesday that they have planned for all possible threat scenarios over the past two years, prepping for PyeongChang 2018,... over fears of further North Korean nuclear tests and ballistic missile launches.
Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy Steve Goldstein said while the U.S. has concerns about the North's military parade set for the day before the opening ceremony of the Olympics, he hopes North Korea embraces the spirit of the Games.
