Footage of Canyon Fire 2 burning through Peters Canyon Regional Park in California on October 9.

The video shows smoke rising from the burning area and captures the "the overwhelming sound of vegetation burning."

"Peters Canyon Regional park is home to an endangered bird species known as the Bell's Vireo," the filmer told Newsflare.

"Their habitat was likely destroyed so this is all very sad, but important to document," he added.

"The flames were 40-50 feet high as they burned through the oily leaves of the trees. It was as if napalm had been dropped and the heat was quite intense even from a distance."

"I saw animals running out of the park towards me as I filmed," he added.
