Trump: China's Effort To Help With North Korea 'Has Not Worked Out'

President Trump tweeted about China's efforts to help with the North Korea situation.

The Monday afternoon passing of Otto Warmbier, who was recently released from a North Korean prison, appears to have shifted President Trump’s outlook on North Korea and the possibility of coming to some sort of accord with the country.
Trump tweeted on Tuesday, “While I greatly appreciate the efforts of President Xi & China to help with North Korea, it has not worked out. At least I know China tried!”
He also said in an official statement, “Otto’s fate deepens my Administration’s determination to prevent such tragedies from befalling innocent people at the hands of regimes that do not respect the rule of law or basic human decency.  The United States once again condemns the brutality of the North Korean regime as we mourn its latest victim.”
Both sentiments are a far departure from the confidence Trump once expressed when talking about containing the dangers North Korea presents.
In early April, Trump tweeted in a pair of messages, “I explained to the President of China that a trade deal with the U.S. will be far better for them if they solve the North Korean problem! North Korea is looking for trouble. If China decides to help, that would be great. If not, we will solve the problem without them! U.S.A.”
