HOUSTON, TEXAS — Shocking video released online shows a man allegedly being beaten and eventually killed by a sheriff deputy’s husband outside a Denny’s in Houston last week.

Prior to the fight, Terry Thompson, 41, reportedly saw John Hernandez, 24, urinating outside the restaurant, the Houston Chronicle reported.

It is unclear who started the fight, but Hernandez was beaten and pinned down on the ground in a chokehold for 10 to 15 minutes. Harris County Sheriff’s deputy, Shauna Thompson, arrived in a separate vehicle to meet her family, at which point she helped her husband Terry restrain Hernandez.

Shauna then called for help when she noticed Hernandez was not breathing. The brawl ended with a motionless Hernandez being rushed to the hospital.

Hernandez was removed from life-support last Wednesday after spending three days at LBJ Hospital. He leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter.

The unnamed doctor who treated Hernandez said that strangulation was the cause of Hernandez’s death.

Neither Terry nor his wife Shauna have been arrested or charged. The incident remains under investigation.
