CHICAGO — A young mother of four was killed last Friday in Chicago’s notoriously violent south side.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Nkyea Aldridge — cousin of Chicago Bulls Guard Dwayne Wade — was walking with her child and another man on South Calumet Avenue last Friday afternoon.

At around the same time, brothers Darwin and Derren Sorrells were hunting down another man. While chasing that man, the two started firing their guns, missing their target and hitting Aldridge instead. Aldridge was killed after being shot in the head and arm.

Her infant child, born just a few weeks earlier on Aug. 1, and the man she was with were unharmed in the shooting.

In the days that followed, the cops arrested the Sorrell brothers, charging both with murder and attempted murder. Both were on parole for a string a violent crimes when the shooting happened and reportedly have gangland connections to the notorious Gangster Disciples.

In the wake of his cousin’s death, Wade on Friday tweeted: “My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough.”
