Boy Who ‘Tested’ 911 Service Sends Apology Letter To Police

On Monday, the South Portland Police Department in Maine shared an apology letter it received from a boy who had recently ‘tested’ the area’s 911 service.

Kids are a pretty curious bunch, but sometimes the quest for information can involve regrettable actions. In such instances, an apology to those affected is often appreciated.
On Monday, the South Portland Police Department in Maine took to Facebook to share news of a letter it received.
It was from a boy who had recently ‘tested’ the area’s 911 service. He wrote, “Sorry. I called you and lied to your face and I will never call you again. Really sorry.”
The department extended thanks to the “...young resident (and, perhaps, his parents) for the note (and for accepting responsibility and setting the record straight).”
It also gave assurances that those in need of emergency assistance should not hesitate to pick up the phone and dial 911.
The department also asks that callers who accidentally contact the service stay on the line and let someone know about the error.
