Bikini Airlines founder becomes Vietnam’s first female billionaire
  • 7 years ago
VIETNAM — A Vietnamese CEO’s controversial gimmick to stock her planes with scantily-clad stewardesses is paying off big time.

Forbes reports that in 2011, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao put up budget airline Vietjet and staffed it with sexy bikini-wearing flight attendants. It didn’t take too long before money started coming in,.

Not content with flights, the savvy businesswoman also began selling steamy calendars showcasing her bikini beauties.

By 2017, Vietjet was taking in ten-figure revenues, and likewise giving its founder a ten-figure fortune. This year, she made Forbes’ world billionaires list — the only Southeast Asian female on the roster and the first Vietnamese woman to do so.

But if you think she’s stopping there, think again. The 46-year-old has bigger plans for her airline, envisioning it as a global operation.

So it’s only a matter of time before “Bikini Airlines” touches down at an airport near you.
