Spicer: Trump 'Extremely Confident' About Wiretapping Claim

During a press briefing on Tuesday, Sean Spicer said President Trump is "extremely confident" about his wiretapping claim.
It’s been over a week since President Trump accused Barack Obama of “wiretapping” Trump Tower during the 2016 election.
Though evidence backing the assertion has yet to emerge, Sean Spicer says Trump is "extremely confident" his claims will be validated.
During Tuesday’s press briefing, Spicer noted, "....I’ll let the DOJ report this, but as I’ve commented in the past, I think there is significant reporting about surveillance techniques that have existed throughout the 2016 election…I think [President Trump] feels very confident..."
Just one day prior, Spicer expanded the scope of what Trump may have meant when he said “wiretapping.”
He commented, “I think if you look at the President’s tweet, he said very clearly 'wiretapping' in quotes...There’s been reports in The New York Times and the BBC and other outlets about other aspects of surveillance that have occurred.”
The Trump tweets in question were posted on March 4 and included, “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!,” and, “How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!”
