South African ODI skipper Ab de Villiers broke the previous records of Sourav Ganguly and became the fastest to reach 9000 runs in ODIs, taking just 205 innings and 214 ODIs to reach the landmark. During the third ODI against New Zealand, De Villiers crossed the 9,000 ODI run mark. After Jacques Kallis, he is the second South African player who crossed the 9000 landmark.
