Behind the Fighter: Saul Rogers

Fight Life TV present another enthralling Behind The Fighter Documentary featuring the renowned, legendary fighter Saul Rogers who currently holds a fight record of 12-1-0.

Having missed out on a prime opportunity at UFC Saul is making his way back to the top, securing more fights and preparing for round two at UFC.

MMA has been a sport that captivated Saul from the age of 16. In a bid to move away from his troublesome nature, Saul signed up for an MMA class. After one session he knew this was the sport for him.

Training out of Colosseum gym Saul made good progress in MMA fighting but he found that the gym didn’t have set times for trainers which hindered the growth of his fighting ability.

With that in mind Saul made the difficult decision to move to SBG gym a move that propelled his career.

“SBG has such a high, high level of training and you’ve got reliable coaches. I had tons of support, they got me pro status and they got me to a decent level of pro. I couldn’t have asked for a better gym.”

As Saul began to rack up the wins his reputation in the MMA community rapidly excelled. So much so that UFC contacted him and invited him to the interview stage. Unlike other fighters Saul wasn’t required to try out for UFC, his reputation alone got him through the first round.

It wasn’t long before he was out in Vegas preparing for his Ultimate Fighter debut. The first fight came round and Saul walked away victorious following this he racked up the wins until he ended up in the final.

Sadly he never made it to the fight. A visa issue had risen and he was forced to leave the country and pull out of UFC.

“It was my fault, I was naïve. But what can you do? There’s no point crying over spilled milk. I just held my hands up, said I was sorry, picked myself up and dusted myself off. Now I could have got bitter and shelled away but I knew it wasn’t the end of me.”

Returning back to the UK Saul didn’t let his downfall stop him instead he learned from it and used that knowledge to improve his fighting ability.

He is adamant he will return to the UFC by the end of the year and for now he is training for future fights as well as training his own warriors at Saul Rogers Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Bolton.

While he is deeply passionate about MMA, it’s not his only passion, he is an extremely dedicated father and partner. His partner,
Monica who recently gave birthday to their son Zander is very supportive of Saul. Together with their two daughters and son, Saul has quite the backing. Saul admits he lives in a mad house but he also admits that he wouldn’t change it for the world.

With such a solid support system, a career that is growing each day and his positive mentality it’s not surprising that Saul is adamant he will return to UFC. If any fighter could do it, it would be him.
