On Tuesday morning, President-elect Donald Trump tweeted, “There should be no further releases from Gitmo."

During his campaign, Donald Trump had pledged to "load up" the Guantanamo Bay detention facility in Cuba, and on Tuesday, the president-elect tweeted, “There should be no further releases from Gitmo. These are extremely dangerous people and should not be allowed back onto the battlefield.”
He had expressed a tougher stance in February, telling a crowd, in part, “This morning, I watched President Obama talking about Gitmo, right, Guantanamo Bay, which by the way...we are keeping open...and we're gonna load it up with some bad dudes, believe me, we're gonna load it up.”
According to NPR, Obama has shared his intent to close the prison since the very beginning of his first term in office.
However, as of mid-November 2016, about 60 of the 242 detainees that were being held at that time are still there.
