Trump Tweets On Health Care: 'Why Should Congress Not Be Paying What Public Pays?'

President Trump continued his health care push in a tweet on Monday.

Still reeling from the Senate’s Friday failure to overturn the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, President Trump continues to put pressure on insurance companies and the GOP.
He said in a Monday morning tweet, “If ObamaCare is hurting people, & it is, why shouldn't it hurt the insurance companies & why should Congress not be paying what public pays?”
That statement echoes his early Saturday comments on the matter.
Just hours after the "skinny bill" failed to pass, the president said via Twitter, “After seven years of "talking" Repeal & Replace, the people of our great country are still being forced to live with imploding ObamaCare! If a new HealthCare Bill is not approved quickly, BAILOUTS for Insurance Companies and BAILOUTS for Members of Congress will end very soon!”
The ‘bailouts’ for Congress Trump is likely referencing are the plan subsidies lawmakers, like many Americans, receive.
The Washington Post explains, “lawmakers and their staff members generally make too much to qualify for subsidies under the law meant for low-income Americans. So President Barack Obama decided to let individual congressional offices be counted as small businesses, thereby allowing members and their staff to qualify for the subsidies.”
As for everybody else’s, questions remain as to whether Trump really will stop sending insurance companies roughly $600 million a month to help them cover cost breaks given to those in lower income brackets.
If his intention is not clarified by mid-August, Reuters reports, health insurance premiums for many are likely to increase by 20%.
