Brazilian soccer team’s plane crashes in Colombia; 76 dead

A chartered aircraft with 81 people on board, including a Brazilian first division soccer team heading to Colombia for a regional tournament final, has crashed on its way to Medellin’s international airport. Colombian authorities confirmed five survivors: Two soccer players, two crew members and one journalist. Poor weather conditions had been reported at the time of the crash. At one point, rescue operations were suspended due to heavy rain. The chartered jet operated by LaMia was carrying Chapecoense, a soccer team which plays in Brazil's top division.
