Here's What Michelle Obama Had To Say After Trump's Victory

Michelle Obama has remained relatively quiet since Donald Trump’s election victory, but at a couple of recent events at the White House, she indicated that Americans should join together as patriots.

First lady Michelle Obama has remained relatively quiet since Donald Trump’s victory, but she recently shared some thoughts about the country at a White House event for military families, reports the Washington Post.
She told the audience, “I just want to take a moment to echo what my husband said last week about the results of our election. He said that we are all on one team--not Democrats first or Republicans first, but we are Americans first. We’re patriots first.”
After the room applauded, the first lady continued by saying, “And as I look around this room, I deeply feel the truth in those words because I see people here who I imagine belong to all different parties, maybe no party at all. And when it comes to supporting our American heroes, none of that matters because this is something we can all agree on.”
The Washington Post reports that at another event involving young people and the arts, she said to the kids in attendance, “Don’t ever lose hope. Don’t ever feel fear. You belong here, you got that? Keep working hard, because it’s going to be so important now to be educated and focused.”
She also responded to a person in the crowd who openly asked her to run for president by laughing and saying, “Be quiet back there.”
Since Trump was elected, social media has been championing the first lady to be a future candidate under the hashtag #Michelle2020.
