Near the end of a powerful speech urging the nation to fight against divisive forces, Obama turned his focus to those closest to him, to thank them for standing by his side throughout his eight years in office. His eyes welled up during his special shout-out to his wife Michelle Obama, while his tributes to his daughters, Malia and Sasha, and Vice President Joe Biden tugged at everyone's heart.
As he expressed his gratitude, it wasn’t just the Obama family that was in tears, but all of us who were watching choked up and realised how much the POTUS and his family would be missed.
