HARVEY, ILLINOIS — Four robbers who ordered a pizza as a part of a plan to mug the delivery person got a little bit of a surprise when an ex-NFL linebacker showed up at the door.

Napoleon Harris III stands at 6’3” and weighs 250 pounds. He’s an Illinois state senator and has played for several NFL teams, the Washington Post reported.

He also owns two Beggars Pizza franchises in Oak Forest and Harvey, according to CBS Chicago.

When an order came in for a pie late on Sept. 6, Harris told his delivery person to go home and that he would make the delivery himself, according to the Washington Post.

The call came from a vacant house. When Harris arrived, he was met by a man on the porch, the Washington Post reported.

Three more men then jumped out from the bushes and started attacking Harris, according to Sean Howard, a Harvey police representative.

“They put a chokehold on the senator, but to no avail. They were really trying to choke him to death, and he was just too strong. He out-powered all four of them,” Howard said.

When they muggers realized Harris was too strong, they fled the scene.

Harris called 911, followed the muggers and told authorities where the truck was going.

The suspects ditched their truck in a lumberyard and fled, but officials later found blood in the vehicle that belonged to a murder victim from a case in Georgia, CBS Chicago reported

According to CBS Chicago, the four attackers were later tracked down, thanks to Harris’ description.
