Man punches 5-day-old baby in the face at Tesco supermarket

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM — The parents of a newborn were momentarily stunned into silence after a random stranger gave their baby daughter a knuckle sandwich in the middle of a supermarket in Baguley, Manchester.

The Manchester Evening News reports that on Monday night, Amy Duckers was shopping in Tesco with partner Lewis Temple, daughter Libby, and baby daughter Elsie Rose.

They bumped into a neighbor who excitedly took a peek at 5-day-old Elsie Rose in her stroller. While cooing at the adorable infant, the neighbor saw a colleague with her husband, and waved them over to look at the baby.

The colleague’s husband ran over and, without warning, punched Elsie in the face. The newborn began screaming as the man’s fist made contact and left a big red mark on her forehead.

When the Duckers went hysterical on the man, he first tried to refute that anything happened, and then apologized and explained that he thought the baby was a doll.

The 63-year-old thug was quickly taken away by security and later arrested by police. The family rushed Elsie Rose to the hospital, where she was monitored overnight.

The infant has since been discharged and is now back to normal. Her mother, though, is so traumatized she doesn’t think she’ll be taking the baby out on any other outings in the near future.
