360 video: Solar Impulse footage shows inside aircraft as it flies over Mediterranean - TomoNews

MEDITERRANEAN SEA — New video released shows the time lapse footage of the pilot of a the Solar Impulse aircraft flying over the Mediterranean Sea just as plane finishes its round-the-world flight.

The 360-degree video takes viewers inside the solar-powered airplane as pilot André Borschberg navigates it over the Mediterranean Sea on July 12. This stretch across the Mediterranean was Borschberg’s final period piloting the aircraft. Afterward, Bertrand Piccard took over flying from Cairo to Abu Dhabi, the final leg of the Solar Impulse’s round-the-world, fuel-free flight.

The plane took off in March 2015. On July 25, Solar Impulse landed in Abu Dhabi. Both pilots flew more than 43,000 km in 23 days and generated 11,000 kWh of energy.
