TUSCON, ARIZONA — A husband-and-wife television news couple plead not guilty in court this week after being indicted on drug and child abuse charges. Their 4-month-old daughter tested positive for cocaine last month.

According to the Tuscon Weekly, Krystin and Somchai Lisaius and a friend named Thomas were reportedly snorting blow at a party in their home last month.

Their problems began the next morning after Krystin breastfed their baby, while the coke was still in her system. The couple noticed their baby girl had become unwell, reported Tuscon.com.

They took the baby to the hospital but refused to let staff take a blood sample. The child was later transferred to another hospital where she tested positive for cocaine. Her parents later admitted their drug use to authorities. According to Tuscon.com, police found 1.8 grams of cocaine at their home.

On Monday, both reportedly plead not guilty at their first court appearance and were released on their own recognizance. The couple are facing child abuse, as well as drug possession and drug paraphernalia charges.

Both had previously worked for the CBS-affiliated news channel KOLD.
