Shin Se-min zooms in on the reignited hostile ambience at the parliament.
There's no easy ending.
The controversial revision of the National Assembly Act... has put the political parties at odds,… just before the 20th National Assembly starts work next week.
After the Cabinet decided Friday to veto the revision and send it back to the parliament for reconsideration, the ruling Saenuri Party affirmed the decision, saying the action is within the president's authority.

"The bill should automatically be scrapped,... and it shouldn't be brought up again for discussion in the 20th National Assembly."

The opposition disagrees, and says it will bring up the bill again in the next National Assembly, which starts Monday.

"I would like to point out that the government and the ruling party's handling of the matter is immature. The public will be angry and say the ruling party has yet to come to its senses after its devastating loss in last month's election."

"If this bill is scrapped, we will cooperate and do everything in our power to re-submit it."

Considering that the 19th National Assembly's four-year term ends on Sunday, the future of the bill is unclear.

"The National Assembly Secretariat says the question of whether the bill Is scrapped or not has not yet been decided, but that the next National Assembly will undertake a thorough legal examination of the issue.
