Trump and Ryan aim to increase Republican party unity

House Speaker Paul Ryan and presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump are meeting in the nation's capital Thursday morning in the hopes that they can shorten the deep ideological divides between the wings of the party represented by the two leaders.
Ryan will be busy huddling with Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus and Trump at the RNC headquarters on Capitol Hill.
The disparities between Ryan and the brash real estate mogul go far beyond personality.
Ryan has staked his career on conservative policies including sweeping entitlement reforms, while Trump has turned the other cheek to much of the traditional Republican Party policy orthodoxy in favor of a more populist vision.
