NASA is now tackling the task of mitigating that downside.
Thanks to the New Aviation Horizons initiative, which is included in the agency’s 2017 budget, plans to develop a quite supersonic passenger plane are in the works.
Said NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, “NASA is working hard to make flight greener, safer and quieter – all while developing aircraft that travel faster, and building an aviation system that operates more efficiently.”
A team headed by Lockheed Martin has already been selected to come up with a preliminary path to creating the Quiet
