UNICEF publikon shifra alarmante për nivelin e varfërisë ne vend, qe hedhin poshtë te gjithë deklarimet qeveritare për minimizim te varfërisë ekstreme. Sipas studimit te kësaj organizate, fokusuar ne familjet ne nevoje, nga rreth 100 mije familje ne nevoje qe numërohen ne gjithë vendin, sipas një sondazhi, 23% e familjeve me fëmijë nen 18 vjeç jetojnë ne varfëri absolute me te adhurua mujore jo me shume se 4800 leke për fryme. Ndërsa 10% jetojnë nen nivelin e varfërisë ekstreme. Por studimi ka nxjerre ne pah edhe dështimin e skemës se ndihmës ekonomike, pasi ne te përfshihen pa te drejte 59% dhe përjashtohen 47% qe kane nevoje. Vetëm 25% e familjeve qe jetojnë nen nivelin e varfërisë ekstreme marrin ndihme ekonomike. E për këtë arsye fëmijët e tyre nuk plotësojnë asnjë nga pese nevojat e konsideruara themelore. Nga ana shëndetësore me shume se gjysma e fëmijëve me sëmundje kronike i përkasin familjeve me nivel te ulet te shpenzimeve.
