"Abid Surti, the National award-winning Indian author, has earned accolades within India and abroad as a painter, author, cartoonist, journalist, playwright and screenwriter besides being a ""one-man"" NGO out to save every drop of water!! But if you ask what his proudest achievement is, you’ll come to know that he has saved more than 1.5 million liters of water from going down the drain, literally! The 77-year-old celebrates Sunday like none one else, picking any building in Mumbai, with his plumber and a volunteer in tow, searching for leaking taps to plug - Free of charge! And what does he get as a reward?? - “A lot of water saved, and sometimes, an offer for lunch”. Surti’s non-governmental organisation, “Drop Dead”, has just one employee – Surti himself!
