China highly critical of Abe's 'evasive' WWII anniversary statement

China has slammed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for not issuing his own apology in his official statement on the 70th anniversary of the end of World War Two.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry says Abe should have made an explicit statement on the nature of the war,… rather than being evasive.
It added that Japan should sincerely apologize to countries that suffered from its military aggression and reiterated that Tokyo should take concrete actions to win the trust of its neighbors.
The United States reacted more positively to Abe's statement.
The White House said it welcomed the Japanese leader's expression of deep remorse for the suffering caused by Japan during the World War Two era.
