A Chechen man who was fatally shot by an FBI agent last week during an interview about one of the Boston bombing suspects was unarmed, law enforcement officials said Wednesday.

The Chechen shot dead by an FBI agent while being interviewed in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects was unarmed, law enforcement officials have said.
Ibragim Todashev was shot dead in his Orlando apartment on May 22 while being questioned about his ties to one of the Boston bombing suspects and the 2011 murder of three men in Waltham, Massachusetts, who were found with their throats cut and marijuana strewn around the scene and over their bodies.
Initial reports said Todashev turned violent while being questioned, grabbed a knife and wounded the agent, who then shot him dead.
New accounts from law enforcement officers, however, contradict the original version of the story, saying that Todashev was unarmed.
According to Reuters, "A Muslim civil liberties group said on Wednesday it wants a review of the death.
Hassan Shibly, executive director of the Tampa, Florida-based branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said his group would by the end of this week file a request for the civil rights division of the U.S. Department of Justice to review Todashev's death.
"We're not accusing them (the FBI) of anything at this point," Shibly said. "There's a lot of questions to be answered to make sure our law enforcement officers are abiding by the highest standards and rules as they conduct their investigations."
