Massive Syria tunnel explosion: Rebels release shocking footage of bomb-packed tunnel detonation

More than a dozen pro-government troops were killed in Syria late on Tuesday after insurgents detonated explosives in two tunnels, according to an opposition activist group.

The rebels set off explosives in tunnels dug underneath buildings in the contested northern city of Aleppo, according to reports citing the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

One of the bombs reportedly went off underneath a police station believed to have been housing government troops.

The blasts reportedly killed at least 13 soldiers and pro-government militiamen.

Dramatic footage posted to YouTube shortly following initial reports of the blasts by the Islamic Front, an insurgent coalition, shows what appears to be the explosions, which were detonated near Aleppo's ancient quarter.
