NIA to probe Manipur ambush, army chief in state as forces launch massive hunt against rebels

The Centre on Friday turned to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the deadly militant ambush that killed 18 soldiers in Manipur on Thursday even as army chief Gen Dalbir Singh arrived in Imphal to review the situation in the insurgency-wrecked state.
The anti-terror agency’s chief has finalised a crack team for deployment in Manipur, awaiting formal orders to fly, sources said.
