Five people were arrested and face human trafficking charges for enslaving a young woman in their dry-cleaning shop for two years.

When 22-year-old Zunduri started working at their dry cleaning shop she was given a salary and a room. But one day, the shop owners accused her of stealing, stopped paying her salary and chained her by the neck to her clothes ironing station, News.com.au reported.

For two long years, she was forced to iron clothes for 12 hours a day, with little food to eat and often without being allowed to sleep.

She also revealed she was beaten and burnt with the iron she used for work.

According to El Univesal, when her wounds would heal, her captors would rip the scabs off. At times, when too hungry, she would eat the cream for her wounds and plastic scraps.

In an interview to Univision, the woman explained that when she finally managed to escape to safety and underwent medical examinations, she was diagnosed with anemia. Doctors also said her body had aged 14 years, and her internal organs were like an 81 years old's.

In Mexico human trafficking can be punished with up to 40 years of imprisonment. However, since Zunduri's captors could be also charged of kidnapping, they could face up to 70 years.
