Israeli Defense Force plane thwarts Syrian militants 'border attack' killing four - TomoNews

The Israeli military says that airstrikes 'neutralized' a potential terrorist attack over the weekend at the Israeli-Syrian border.

Four militants from Syria allegedly crossed into Israeli territory and headed toward the border fence on Sunday night at a location near the town of Majdal Shams. Israeli Defense Forces near the border were the probable targets in the attempted attack, it said.

Patrolling Israeli troops noticed the militants approaching the eastern side of the fence and preparing to set an explosive device.

According to Reuters, an Israeli Air Force aircraft was called in and killed all four militants.

The attempted bombing may have been an attempt by Hezbollah to avenge last week's Israeli attacks on several Hezbollah sites in Syria and Lebanon.
