A dog is being hailed as hero after trying to save her owner from a house fire in Goshen Township, Ohio. Carmen the Boxer is now recovering from the blaze that broke out in her home last week.
A dog is being hailed as hero after trying to save her owner from a house fire in Goshen Township, Ohio. Carmen the Boxer is now recovering from the blaze that broke out in her home last week.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they noticed flames and smoke in the basement inside the residence of Carmen's owner Ben Ledford. At the time of the fire, the 9-year-old boxer was attempting to protect Ben.
According to a neighbor, Carmen's body was resting over Ben's face to shield him from the heat and smoke. Reportedly both the dog and her owner were unconscious when firefighters reached them.
Crews were able to resuscitate Carmen but Ben was pronounced dead a short time later. The Boxer suffered from lung damage and was placed on a ventilator so her lungs will have a chance to heal.
