Whisky Tasting: The Bowmore Gold Reef
Nosing 3:40
Whisky.com tastes the Bowmore Gold Reef. This is the liter bottle for the travel value. Bowmore actually means 'Great Reef'. So this bottle celebrates the name Bowmore. It is a maturation of American oak casks and European sherry casks.
The nose:
Rich smoke, vanilla, fruitiness (peaches, oranges, lemons) and a little caramel
The taste:
Pineapple, papaya, kiwi. I am missing the salt that is typical for Bowmore. The oak comes with a strange oily tone.
The finish:
Quite long aftertaste with wonderful peat and vanilla.
