The body of Major General Harold Greene, a U.S. general who was killed in an Afghan attack, arrived at Dover Air Base, Thursday (August 7), on its way home to family in Falls Church, Virginia.

Officials banned the recording of audio as Greene's body underwent a "dignified transfer", from a transport plane to an Air Force vehicle waiting on the tarmac.

The Afghan who opened fire on a high-ranking delegation visiting a military complex in Kabul, killing U.S. Major General Harold Greene, had served in the army for three years, according to Afghan officials.

In the immediate aftermath of Tuesday's attack, the Defence Ministry had described the gunman, who was also killed, as a "terrorist in army uniform", indicating its belief he was an Islamist militant who had infiltrated the army from outside.
