Roadside bomb kills at least 13 in Afghanistan

Emergency officials in Afghanistan are responding to the latest post-election violence.

A government spokesman said a roadside bomb killed at least 13 in the Kandahar province.

A hospital official said they were treating three for wounds.

(SOUNDBITE) (Pashto) QAYOOM POKHLA, DIRECTOR OF MIRWAIS HOSPITAL IN KANDAHAR SAYING:

"The wounded people are under treatment and the bodies are inside the morgue."

The country went to the polls on Saturday despite threats from the Taliban and increasing violence in the run-up to the election.
