Jamie Oliver to open restaurant in Hong Kong
  • 10 years ago
British chef Jamie Oliver fell over laughing Wednesday after he announced he was opening a new Italian restaurant in Hong Kong.

Jamie's attempt at speaking Cantonese has drawn a lot of attention. The new restaurant, set up with local partner Big Cat Group, will be on the second floor of a new building expected to open in July. It will be Jamie's second Italian restaurant in Asia. The first one opened in Singapore last year. Oliver said he is committed to meeting the stringent food quality and safety requirements, and that prices will affordable. It would cost about HK$250, approximately US$30 per person. The restaurant will have about 100 staff. It is 10,000 square feet and can seat about 200.
