Crack pipe vending machine: 25 cents a pop in Vancouver!

Crack pipe vending machines are a reality in Vancouver. A non-profit organization is selling crack pipes for just 25 cents via a vending machine in Downtown Eastside. The Portland Hotel Society operates two such vending machines and the hope is to halt the spread of disease.
One machine is located in the Washington Market. The other is located in the Portland Hotel Society's Drug Users Resource Centre. The Pyrex crack pipes have been available for about six months.
Pipes that are shared or pipes that are chipped or broken can easily spread disease. Such efforts are aimed at reducing the harms of drug use and are similar to needle exchanges for heroin addicts. But critics say making drug use easier and safer further enables drug use.
