Families survey the damage after two deadly car bomb blasts in Baghdad.

They went off in quick succession late Monday night in this mostly Shi'ite district in the south of the Iraqi capital.

At least four people were killed and 25 others wounded

One resident says the blasts came just after sunset prayers and damaged his home.

(SOUNDBITE)(Arabic) BLAST VICTIM, ABU AHMED, SAYING:

"The blast hurt people, killing a man there. The house was totally damaged, all the doors and windows have been smashed and all the members of my family are in hospital"

The violence is becoming all too routine.

A day before, at least 14 people were killed in separate car bombs -- also in mostly Shi'ite Muslim areas of Baghdad province.

The U.N. says last year was the bloodiest in Iraq since 2008.

And already this year, over a thousand people were killed in January alone.
