An explosion in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Wednesday (February 19) appeared to be caused by a twin bomb attack using a car and a motorcycle, security sources said.

The blast occurred near Iran's cultural centre in an area supportive of Shi'ite political and militant movement Hezbollah. Iran's embassy in the same area was targeted by a bomb attack in November, one a series of car bombs in southern Beirut since July.
