Dozens killed in explosions across Baghdad

Blood spills on the streets of Baghdad as dozens die in a series of attacks across the Iraqi capital.

Eight of the 10 blasts in were in mainly Shi'ite districts.

In the deadliest attack, a parked car blew up on a commercial street killing five people.

A surge of violence has killed more than 6,000 people across Iraq this year, reversing a decline in sectarian bloodshed that hit a climax in 2006-07.

Some downplay the divisions in the country

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) ZAFARANIYA RESIDENT ABU ABDULLAH, SAYING:

"There's no difference between Sunnis, Shi'ites, Christians and all other sects, but there are people with an agenda who want to create chaos in the country."

Authorities say at least 38 people were killed in the suspected Sunni insurgent attacks.
