Dozens dead as truck bomb hits Baghdad market

At least 60 people were killed and 200 injured on Thursday in a truck bomb attack in Baghdad, according to police and medical sources.

A refrigerated truck packed with explosives blew up in a crowded market in the Shi’ite Sadr City district of the Iraqi capital.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but Sunni militants in the group calling itself Islamic State, which last year seized swathes of northern Iraqi territory, have claimed similar attacks targeting Shi’ite neighbourhoods.
