Baghdad car bombs kill dozens

Iraqis awake to the aftermath of a series of deadly car bombs that exploded across Baghdad on Monday, killing nearly 40 people.
Here in the Shi'ite-dominated neighborhood of Husseiniya, residents passed by the remnants of vehicles torn apart by the bombs.
This witness says the first car bombing killed four people and wounded 12 others -- fifteen minutes the second car exploded, but, thank God he said, it caused only material damage.
The attacks also shook markets in the Shi'ite majority Karada district, where eight people died and a shopping centre was badly damaged in two separate explosions.
Meanwhile, the capital's Nasr neighborhood remained littered with wreckage and debris as well.
The bombs detonated on the evening of a Shi'ite Muslim celebration, raising tensions over increased sectarian violence.
Some of the assaults targeted Shi'ite districts but there also were explosions in mixed neighborhoods and districts with a high population of Sunnis
